The Houston Texans came to an agreement on a one-year, $3.25 million deal with running back Phillip Lindsay on Friday. The deal itself includes $1 million guaranteed and $500,000 in incentives, per Adam Schefter.
In his first two seasons for the Broncos, Lindsay rushed for over 1,000 yards (1,037 yards in 2018 and 1,011 yards in 2019) — earning himself the accolade of becoming the first undrafted offensive rookie to ever play in the pro bowl. Last season was a bit of a struggle in comparison to other seasons, with Lindsay racking up a collective 530 yards. Lindsay, however, only started in eight games in the 2020 season due to injury — which was half of the amount of starts that he had the year before.
Lindsay will join David Johnson and Mark Ingram as the other main running back threats in Houston. Should Deshaun Watson decide to stay, Houston’s ground game will be a versatile as ever.
