Veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has signed a one-year, $10 million deal to join the Washington Football Team, per Adam Schefter.
Ever since they released Dwayne Haskins (and then Alex Smith afterward), Washington has been searching for a quarterback. 2020 third-string quarterback Taylor Heinicke still remains on the team, as he only played in one game laster year. In that game, Heinicke accumulated 137 passing yards and one touchdown on 12/19 completed passes.
Despite being on the team for less time, Fitzpatrick is expected to come into training camp as the starter over Heinicke. In the 2020 NFL season, Fitzmagic completed 183 of his 267 passes for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
What will the quarterback landscape look like for Washington this season? Will the veteran keep his hype or will the third-year quarterback be a sleeper? We will just have to wait and see.
