"This new MLB season is only a little over a week "This new MLB season is only a little over a week old and has already struck a huge milestone: The first no-hitter of the season, being thrown by San Diego Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove. Musgrove’s game marks the first no-hitter in Padres franchise history. From the time the Padres became a team 52 years ago, there had been 144 no-hitters thrown by the other 29 organizations (that is, up until Friday night). They had gone 8,205 games without a no no which is the second longest streak in MLB history next to the Philadelphia Phillies from 1906-64 — which spanned 8,944 games. An even crazier thing about Friday night’s performance is that Musgrove is originally from the San Diego area and was just in his second career start for his hometown Padres. He had spent the first five years of his career with the Astros and Pirates. He just became a Padre this past offseason via trade from the Pirates. Against a very dangerous Rangers lineup Friday, Musgrove allowed just one baserunner when he hit Joey Gallo in the fourth. It’s crazy to think that he was just one misplaced cutter from a potential perfect game. It reminds me of Max Scherzer’s first no-hitter against the Pirates in 2015 when he got 26 outs before a batter was hit by a pitch. In a game where it seemed everything was working for Musgrove, he threw 112 pitches with 77 of those going for strikes. He racked up 10 K’s including giving the Rangers two-hole Anderson Tejeda a hat trick. In the ninth, he threw a mere nine pitches and out of those nine only one non-offspeed pitch. It would also be a tremendous travesty to talk about Friday’s game without celebrating the man doing the dirty work behind the plate, Victor Caratini. He was a monster back there Friday and called an amazing game! Fun fact: Caratini has now caught the last two no no’s in the MLB as he caught Alec Mills with the Cubs last season. After the game, Musgrove probably thought something along the lines of “There was no way I was coming out of that game.” He fought like the dog that he is and completed a goal every pitcher one day dreams of accomplishing by throwing the league’s first no-hitter of the season.”
“The UFC officially released the images for thei “The UFC officially released the images for their new fighter jerseys on Tuesday morning — ending their 7-year deal the league previously had with Reebok. Although details aren’t fully released yet, this new deal with Venum is thought to be around three years long. Fighters Aljamain Sterling, Brian Ortega, and Kay Hansen were the first to be seen wearing the new gear. With this new deal announced, the UFC officially closes its chapter with the Reebok brand. Stretching from 2014-2021 the company saw a plethora of fighters don the jerseys for fight nights and paper views. Some notable stars to wear the Reebok brand during that time were Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones, Nate Diaz, Amanda Nunez, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, just to name a few. Images of the new Venum Jerseys were also published on the Venum Website and UFC Store. The new fight kits include jackets, jerseys, sweats, tank tops, sports bras, and shorts with both short and long sizes. The colorways consist of Red, White, Blue, Yellow, Green, Black, Grey, and of course the champion colors of black and gold. Even though many memories and iconic moments were seen during the Reebok era, the Venum wave opens the door of new aged fighters to create their own legacy. Starting Saturday April 10, we will see the new outfits in action. Fight fans should be excited to welcome the new age of MMA and to create new memories with Venum.”
“The Baylor Bears took down the Gonzaga Bulldogs “The Baylor Bears took down the Gonzaga Bulldogs 86-70 to win their first men’s basketball national championship title in school history Monday night. Despite Gonzaga coming in undefeated and the favorite to win, they couldn’t shake some glaring issues to come out on top in the game. The Bulldogs’ lack of output on the scoreboard stemmed from their struggles from beyond the arc and also with rebounding and turnovers — among other things. The Bears’ efficiency from beyond the three point line showed out Monday night — as Baylor ended the game with a 43.5% three point shooting percentage, in sharp contrast to Gonzaga’s accumulated 29.4% three point percentage from three. Baylor also absolutely dominated the boards — accumulating a total of 38 rebounds, versus Gonzaga’s mere 22. And if the almost-double rebounds didn’t do enough damage, the Bulldogs turned over the ball 14 times — five more than the Bears’ nine turnovers. The leading scorer for the victors was Jared Butler, who dropped 22 points, three rebounds and seven assists in 31 total minutes of play. The leading scorer on the Zags was Jalen Suggs, who also put up 22 points, grabbed one rebound and three assists in the game.”
"In the 2020 season, the Broncos finished bottom o "In the 2020 season, the Broncos finished bottom of the division with a 5-11 record. This was good (or bad) enough to land them the 9th overall pick in the 2021 draft. With the 2021 NFL draft a mere weeks away, many questions loom over the Denver Broncos: What should they do with the early pick, and will they concentrate on bringing in another quarterback or decide to keep Drew Lock? One Point of View: Drew Lock Deserves More Time. Many believe that Drew Lock deserves more time. In his rookie season, Lock’s favorite target was pro bowl receiver Courtland Sutton. Sutton missed all but two quarters of the 2020 season do to a shoulder injury and a torn ACL. Without his best target it was difficult for Lock to find chemistry, especially since two of his primary receivers were rookies last season. With a shortened offseason and new offensive coordinator, Lock faced many challenges in his sophomore season. He totaled 2,933 yards with 16 TDS and 15 picks on the season. The young quarterback’s turnovers and lack of production tend to be what are most-concerning for fans since John Elway made such an emphasis on bringing in offensive talent via last year’s draft. This is Drew’s spot to lose and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the hot seat in 2021. Another Point of View: Fields or Bust Now, shifting gears to another mindset, it is important look at the Broncos Draft options and why they should move on from Lock. This year’s draft class is loaded with talent at the quarterback position, even with the first overall pick — as it’s almost guaranteed Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence will go to the Jaguars. After that, anyone is on the table for the Broncos to grab. Assuming the Jets, Niners, and Falcons take a QB, the talent will be pretty limited at the number nine pick. And who knows if other teams won’t try to snatch their future QB either? The best hope for Denver is that Ohio State QB Justin Fields falls into their lap at #9. In 2020, Fields threw for 2,100 yards, resulting in 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also lead Ohio State to the college football playoffs — where he took down Trevor Lawrence and Clemson...”
