Joel Embiid To Have Surgery On Torn Ligament In Hand, Will Be Re-Evaluated After 1-2 Weeks (1/10/20)

The Philadelphia 76ers’ team physicians have spent time evaluating Joel “The Process” Embiid’s left ring finger that he dislocated Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

After further evaluation, the specialists have come to the conclusion that Embiid needs surgery — and will be re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks.

This comes as a major blow to the 76ers team. Embiid is a vocal and strong leader that can come up clutch during crunch time (end of the game). But even though his teammates appreciate him on their team, nothing beats the love for the seven foot center that comes from his fan base in Philadelphia and elsewhere.

With the NBA All-Star game approaching and voting that is reaching an end, Joel Embiid is ranking at the top of the list of candidates as a fan-favorite in the Eastern Conference.

When it comes to his fans, the voting numbers truly speak for themselves. Embiid received 1,784,211 votes in the second fan returns of the NBA All-Star voting — which is second only in the Eastern Conference to the reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Hopefully Joel Embiid’s recovery will be quick and steady. Before his injury, Embiid was averaging 23.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 blocks a game for this season — which played such a significant role in his success. He is a valuable asset to this team and until he is back, the NBA will be awaiting his return.

The NBA All Star Game will be held at the United Center in Chicago on February 16 at 6:00pm MST and it will be broadcasted on the TNT network
