In case you missed it, this Sunday, June 6th, YouTube sensation Logan Paul will be fighting all-time great boxer, Floyd Mayweather. As shocking as it may seem, this is still very much happening. Here’s what we know.
Tale of the Tape:
Height: Paul stands at 6’2”, a substantial difference over Mayweather’s generous 5’8”.
Weight: Paul walks at anywhere from 200-210 lbs. while Mayweather weighed 147 lbs. at his last fight.
Age: Paul is 26, Mayweather is 44.
Record: Mayweather’s 50-0 record is arguably the best ever, having much more experience than Paul, who has an 0-1 record.
1. No judges, official winner or head gear.
2. Knockouts are legal and in play (only way to out-right “win”).
3. 12 oz. Gloves are mandatory.
4. The fight consists of Eight three-minute rounds.
Yes, no judges. This strange rule is likely in order to save Mayweather from any potential loss, given the fight IS indeed an exhibition. A scorecard won’t be read, so if time runs out and there has yet to be a KO, it’s done. No winner, no scorecard, the only way to theoretically win would be a knockout, which the referee CAN indeed declare. While social media will most definitely crown a “winner” in case all eight rounds do expire, no official winner will be named.
How/When to Watch:
Showtime is charging $49.99, as expected this match is pay-per-view. The main card will begin at 8 p.m. ET this Sunday, June 6th. The Mayweather vs. Paul fight itself won’t likely begin until around midnight (12 a.m. ET).
