Everything You Need To Know Gearing Up For The Battle For L.A. (12/25/19)

Today is the day that we have all been waiting for: The Battle For Los Angeles.

Ever since the Clippers and Lakers both capitalized on their free agency potential, the rivalry between L.A.’s two NBA teams has grown wild. It’s even crazier that both teams use the Staples Center as their home arena, so both teams will have home-court advantage. The demand for the tickets have become so high that according to Slam Online, “…the average asking price for a Lakers Christmas Day game on the secondary market has broken the $1,200 barrier.” That makes it the most expensive Christmas game of all time.

Both Anthony Davis and LeBron James were questionable at one point this week, but have now both been confirmed to play according to CBS Sports. Losing both of them would be an extreme travesty for the Lakers because they have averaged 53.5 points a game as a duo. Their team had their worst loss of the season against the Nuggets at the Staples Center on Sunday — the final score was 104-128. LeBron James sat out the game with a Thoracic muscle strain accompanied with an irritated groin muscle. Anthony Davis slipped on a wet spot in the fourth quarter and hyperextended his knee. Luckily, it wasn’t too serious of an injury, because he will be playing today as well.

My Prediction:

I believe that this game will be a close one, with both teams technically having a home game and all, but I am going to have to give this one to the Clippers. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are known for their incredible talent, but because they are both coming off of injuries, their athleticism will be limited. If they cannot establish dominance in fast-breaks, then Clippers players like Patrick Beverley and Kawhi Leonard will be able to stop the Lakers defensively. If The King and The Brow were both 100 percent healthy, I believe it would be a completely different story.
Scoring Hypothesis: Clippers 112 – Lakers 104.

The Clippers will take on the Lakers at 6:00pm MST at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The two channels that this game will be televised on are ABC and ESPN. We, at 6048, will be keeping fans updated via Instagram by posting highlights and scores, without any politics of course:)
