Tragic. Horrific. Unspeakable. These are just a few words from a long list of ones that could describe the day we lost Kobe in the world of sports.
If one were to look online, they could not help but stumble upon headlines about how Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were on board a helicopter that went down in Calabasas, California. Unfortunately, no one survived.
In the midst of all of the pain and heartbreak, it can be hard to remember all of the amazing accomplishments that he achieved in his career. Here are just a few of the big ones to remember:
In his 20-season NBA career, Bryant averaged 25 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists a game. He was an All-Star 18 times, four of which he was the All-Star Game MVP. Kobe was selected to the NBA All-Defensive team 12 times and was the 2007-2008 NBA MVP. The Mamba won five NBA Championships and was voted as the Finals MVP in two of them. Unlike most NBA players, Kobe Bryant stayed with the same team for his whole career.
There is no doubt that what occurred yesterday was excruciatingly horrific and heartbreaking, but Kobe showed us through his career that even in highs and lows we need to keep the grind — that Mamba Mentality…
“Have a good time. Enjoy life. Life’s too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving. You have to keep going.Put one foot in front of the other, smile, and just keep on rollin’.” -Kobe Bryant
