Jimmy Johnson Emerges As The Latest 2020 HOF Inductee (1/13/20)

Nine pro seasons, 89 wins – 68 losses, and two Super Bowl wins. These were the career stats for Jimmy Johnson while he was the coach of both the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins. He helped maximize the potential of a number of talented players ranging from Troy Aikman to Emmitt Smith.

Being a FOX Sports analyst, the Hall of Fame broke tradition to tell him the news during the halftime show in the NFC Divisional Playoff between the Packers and Seahawks. Johnson was visibly emotional after receiving the award and immediately gave credit to his former players and assistant coaches for helping him get to the place that he is at today.

Coach Johnson was not the only coach to receive the nomination on live TV. The day earlier, former Steelers coach Bill Cowher was notified that he would be inducted during the halftime show of the Ravens-Titans playoff game. Knowing how all of the members of the halftime crew like to mess around, each co-host showed off a Bill Cowher Pro Football Hall of Fame shirt!

The nomination of Jimmy Johnson was not only a big deal for himself either. Cameras caught football announcer, Troy Aikman, tearing up watching his former coach be honored.

It was truly a neat weekend in football. The number 6 seed in the AFC took down the first seed in the divisional round, and two of the NFL’s greatest coaches were honored by being notified that they would be members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2020.
