Best Buy Worker That Thwarted Thief In Viral Video Gets To Witness UFC 246 First-Hand (1/19/20)

Less than a month has passed and Summer Tapsa has seen fighting from inside the ring (in this case, the ring being a Best Buy store) and from the stands with UFC President Dana White.

On December 23, Tapsa was working at Best Buy and realized that a thief was trying to shoplift an item and wrestled him to the ground. She unfortunately was let go from the company following the incident, but not before her video went viral.

Dana White saw the video and posted it to his Instagram page and said “I WANT HER TO WORK FOR ME!” In the post, he also invited her to come to UFC 246 (Conor McGregor vs. Cowboy) and be right in the middle of the action throughout the fight events.

The battle was between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone –e who is the most winningest UFC fighter ever with 21 victories, and Conor McGregor who is arguably the most popular fighter to ever enter the octagon. Ultimately, McGregor knocked out Cowboy in 40 seconds and restored his name back on top.

The power of social media in sports has now increased dramatically over the past few years. Teams have found rockstar players from viral videos — anywhere from punters to kickers. Maybe the UFC has just found a fighter on that list.

Only time will tell.
